What I’ve Been Up To

December 12, 2011

Above: Sketch of a woman with a very interesting hairstyle (she was on TV). Faber-Castell Pitt Artist's Calligraphy Pen and gouache applied with a 3/4 inch stiff filbert brush and smeared with my hand and a paper towel. In the 9 x 12 inch Fabriano Venezia in-studio journal. Scanner cut off the right edge of the spread but you can still read it.)

I've been off teaching this weekend so to follow up with last week's posts on experiments and pushing through experiments I have the above page spread. Despite the muddy contaminated highlights I'm very fond of the yellow and the magenta pairing. I hope to play with this some more. I'm excited to get back at it.

This woman is a TV personality? This is just a simple painting yet Every work of art will be more meaningful with the story behind it.

Paintings, isn’t everyone a TV personality now, with reality TV gone viral? I don’t think you’ll like the direction I’m going on the blog in 2012—less writing. We’ll see if that actually happens, as I’ve said that before. But this post is to me, all that’s necessary.
