I’m Cross Posting? No—Guest Posting

January 7, 2009

If you want to see an image for this post, and if you can't wait for tomorrow's daily post, here is an extra post from me, posted at Ken and Roberta Avidor's Twin Cities Sketcher Blog, where I am allowed (gasp) to guest post. (You'd think I was given a key to to the launch box the way I talk about this!)

Anyway, I make a bold attempt to sketch "urban" in a post there on Jan. 7, i.e., today.

Where will I post next?  When will it stop? Be afraid, be very afraid.

OH, if you do go there I was using a Staedtler Pigment Liner and some wimpy washes of gouache. But the important thing is I was experiencing GROWTH.

Yaay, Roz. since I am an Urban Sketcher Wuss who freezes up in crowds, I can only applaud your moment of growth. Go for it.

great guest post, roz – and thanks for the intro to the tc sketcher blog. i liked your use of the staedtler pigment liners and the gouache in this piece – those are my two favorite materials!

Well Annie, just wait until tomorrow’s post when I really stretch outside my comfort zone.

Years of sketching at zoos and other public places didn’t prepare me for what I was to encounter.

The car was a stretch of subject matter, but tomorrow’s adventure is a stretch of “being.”

My favorite pen of all time (excepting the dip pen which trumps everything but isn’t that portable) is the Staedtler Pigment Liner Calligraphy 1 pen (they came in 1, 2, and 3). It was a fine point, with a slight chisel. You could sketch with it and just get neat variations to your line. Write with it and just have your writing look cool. No one really noticed it was a calligraphy tip when they looked at the printing!

And Staedtler stopped making them. SHEESH! It was the best selling pen at Wet Paint (they told me when I grumbled). A friend found some in Hong Kong and brought them back. I have one left that I’m going to have to use soon or I’m sure it will dry out as it is old. Sigh.

    Things change.

At least I still have all the other S.P.Ls

Thanks Ricë, it’s no cow eye, but I was rather fond of it!
