Why I Love Toned Papers

The other day I was walking home from the Bell Museum. It was late in the day. A rainy day had turned into a brilliantly sunny one. The light bouncing off the side of the trees struck me. I had to stop.

Even though I didn't take time to really push the white (by letting my pan of white get softer so I could apply more paint) I feel that the paper and paint contrast enough to easily remind me of what I saw. And I could do this in only a couple minutes.

I love that about toned papers.
