Conversations with Dick get jotted down. He seems to have a good idea of what bothers me. Sometimes I save the notes.
I’m using my time stuck at home to work from some photos I took at Como Zoo—to practice shading on penguin feathers.
If you can’t get out, you can still work on a visual vocabulary for what you’re going to be faced with.
And it will help dissipate your anger (if any) towards gravity. (Note: Sometimes I flip and don’t think gravity does its job, but that’s a whole different post.)
(Yes, that’s another book with the defunct Nideggen paper in it. Normally I wouldn’t use another one so quickly, but it has a lovely pink and lavender cover paper and seemed “winter-esque,” my birthday is in January so I thought I would give myself an early present by pulling it off the shelf; and I wanted to work on toned paper, so there you have it. I started this journal on December 26 with absolutely no intention of finishing it before the end of the year—see I’m getting really sensible! It’s happening.)

Ok who are you and what have you done with Roz? Starting a journal on the 26th and leaving it unfinished! Blasphemy! 😂 I love the penguin and now I think I should do penguins and the sloth my next Como visit!
I laughed so hard when I read this. Yes, it’s still me, not a plant person (i.e., a person taken over by an alien plant as opposed to someone who likes plants). Hope the trip to Como went great. (Oh and I need to say that without trying I started 2 new books before the end of the year—one a large one for collaging and thumbnails and such—and had over 30 pages in both books before the new year started—so maybe next year if I start a 100-page journal with 5 or 6 days left in the year I could manage it?????)
Bravo Roz on another thought provoking commentary illustratedcwith beautiful sketches! Bev
Thanks Bev, I’m glad you enjoyed this one. Since you have seen Dick and me in action I know it will give you a laugh.
