If you’ve been playing the home game of “How Many UK Television Shows Does Roz Watch Anyway?” you’ll be pleased to know that one of my favorite shows has new episodes out in the US. (BritBox)
“Mock the Week” is back in a covid manifestation with perspex partitions between the comics and a Zoom audience.
The format is the same—two teams of three answer questions set by host Dara O’Briain.
The focus is on current events.
It helps if you know something about what’s going on in the UK—who the main political players are, some bits of history. There’s only an occasional mention of something that you might need from childhood (like the obscure reference to Arthur Ransome), though there was a great comment about Rolf Harris in a recent show and if you don’t know who he is you’ll need to look up both his past and recent history.
But over all, if you’ve just been following current events you’ll understand what’s going on. It’s great fun. It will help you get through some worrying times.
