In Context—It’s All Grist for the Mind Mill

March 19, 2021

Ever since childhood I’ve been the type of journal keeper who has visual elements in amongst written elements.

It doesn’t matter if it’s something that I hear on the street, or in this case on the TV. It doesn’t matter if it is something that I’m reading.

Everything is fair game, and I get down what interests me.

Do I come back to all these things?

Am I going to write a book about P.T. Barnum? Nope, not even a history of the circus. But the quotation made me think about what goes around comes around; is there really anything new? And who really is the Prince of Humbugs?

Then add in that same day that Ron Burgundy should address the same thing. Well, you know, sometimes you just can’t make this shit up!

This is wonderful journal entry preserving a moment when seemingly random events merge into clarity! I’m reminded that nobody ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of the American people.

The serendipity of events and the way things happen together, always amazes me. Also, history repeats…
