Remembrance Day: I’m Away from the Computer

November 11, 2019
Quick pen sketch in a small watercolor sketchbook (Hahnemühle). Of course a beard and mustache!

Today is Remembrance Day. I write about this almost every year. I think I have said what I can say. Enter “Remembrance Day” in my blog’s search engine and you’ll find those past posts.

If you’ve been reading the blog carefully, or even casually, you all know this about me: I’m anti-war, I pro-soldiers, I’m cynical about old men sending young men into battle to protect the interests of the old men. I don’t think we do enough for our Veterans who have given so much. We don’t seem to be getting better at approaching peace. We just seem to keep inventing new kinds of war, for the new century. (Watch Breaker Morant.)

I hope you find time to remember and honor the men and women who have served and often given their lives so that our freedoms would be safe.

Today I’m away from the computer. I added an image to today’s post because the blog home page design needs a photo to be happy. Nothing to read into here.

Roz, I completely agree with your comments, and thank you for making them. Having gotten very involved in local politics, I would also encourage everyone to vote. Make your voice heard in local, state, and national elections and make a difference. (Oh, and I’m still drawing and painting every day since taking your class several years ago.)

George it’s great to hear from you that you are still drawing and painting!!!! I love that. And it’s great to know that you are voting. I agree it’s very important!

Hi Roz, I have just stumbled across your blog. Having become totally confused by all the ‘stuff’ I have collected over the past 4 years (every media conceivable) I have gone back to basics with a sketchbook, pen and watercolour. But I’m still confused but since reading bits of your Blog I have just sat down and done ‘something’ in my sketchbbok!! I will continue to read your blog and pursevere in my sketchbook. Thankyou.

Glad you have found the blog and are enjoying it. I’m also glad that you are focusing on sketching. It’s so satisfying to have a focus. Once you get a regular habit going you can branch out and have some fun with other media. And you’ll feel less confused. And as you say, you’ll have done something in your sketchbook!!!
