Trick or Treat Sketch?

October 31, 2018
A direct brush sketch, with ink washes, for day 21 of InkTober 2018. The topic for the day was “drain.” It is on Blick 140 lb. Hot Press watercolor paper. It’s 100 percent cotton and it was priced accordingly. I didn’t like the way the sizing was so absorbent on this paper so I pretty much used up the rest of the 9 x 12 inch block for the last half of Inktober. I won’t be purchasing it again.

I live in a neighborhood of university students. I think there are only five home-owners left. We don’t get trick-or-treaters for Halloween.

If you live in a neighborhood where you do I suggest you position yourself by a window, and draw the costumed visitors. (This assumes that you have lights on your porch or front entrance.)

I’ll content myself with having sketched this vampire for InkTober.

I’ll put up a gallery of my InkTober sketches in November.

Have fun sketching on Halloween. Sketch your candy before you eat it, that’s fun too!

If you don’t know what InkTober is you can read about it at this link. You might enjoy participating next year.

Some of my InkTober pieces are already on my instagram if you can’t wait.
