Easy Art Supply Shopping for Roz’s SketchKon Workshop

June 19, 2018
We’re going to look at donuts from all angles. We’ll look at values through monochromatic sketching to see how values create dimension.  Demonstrations include my ink wash technique which can be used with a brush pen or with watercolors. And of course we’ll move on to color sketching! So much to do in this fast-paced workshop.

Wet Paint is my favorite locally owned independent art supply store. They have always been helpful by bringing in items that I need for my binding and art classes. They also put kits together for my local and online classes.

While there is no kit or set supplies for my SketchKon 2018 Class “Donuts” there are recommended and suggested supplies.

To make things easier for my students Wet Paint has placed my recommendations together on a page of their website.

If you are attending my workshop and want to purchase your materials in a one-stop shopping effort, please check out my supplies page on Wet Paint’s site.

(Note: I’m not financially connected in any way to Wet Paint, they are just a great store, and always so helpful in getting artists the materials they need to be creative.)

You can download my Donuts workshop supply list by clicking this line.

You can read more about my Donuts workshop here.

Update—I just heard while composing this message that the workshop has filled, but if you haven’t picked up your supplies you can still get them at Wet Paint. (And you might want to contact SketchKon about being on a wait list for any of the workshops you’re interested in.) Download the supply list and check out what you already have on hand. Then head on over to Wet Paint for what you still need.

SketchKon’s 3-days of events (talks, demos, and activities) is still open for registration. It runs from November 1 through November 4 in Pasadena, CA. Click on this link to register for SketchKon.

Even if you can’t get to my workshop there are tons of fun things to do: great talks to hear, fun activities, and fantastic people to meet.

I will be giving two one-hour presentations and participating in a panel discussion, as well as leading a sketch out to the LA Zoo after the SketchKon events end on Sunday. There are going to be so many interesting artists presenting—you need to check it out.

Thank you so much for the pdf! It’s a great summary of your favourite things, most helpful. Hope you have a great trip and workshop experience.

I wonder at some point if you could elaborate on the pencil case content? It looks like an eclectic collection but I’m sure there is (or was) a reason for each item😁.

Paul, I won’t be elaborating on the pencil content on my blog. Just in my workshop. The selection was made based on the techniques I wanted to teach and giving students some options. There’s always a reason for why I use something. But most of this stuff isn’t what I take out on a given day. The difference is the workshop is a mixed media workshop so I get to teach some of those techniques I like to use. That makes it fun for me.

            Fair enough.
