My Favorite TV Dog—Swatch

November 28, 2016

Above: Pentel Brush Pen and gouache sketch of Swatch from "Project Runway. (8 inch square hardbound journal with the old/defunct Folio paper). No black paint here, I'm experimenting with Helio Blue (a phthalo blue that has a bit of a green cast to it) and mixing it with it's complementary red.

You can bet if there is a dog on a TV show I'm going to see it. So it's no surprise to my friends who know I watch "Project Runway" that I sketch Swatch whenever he appears.

Left: Detail of the above sketch—because I know you love gouache as much as I do.

Remember I think dogs are best when they are black and white! (The girls.) It's so graphic. And so fun to paint. What you might not know is that I love Boston Terriers. I think they are adorable. My radar is always alert to them.

So today I'm sharing two sketches I did of Swatch while watching "Project Runway."

Even though I've been a fan of Swatch since he started appearing on the show I never knew if he was male or female, so I sought the answer on the internet and found this lovely article all about Swatch by Robyn Hagan Cain. Check it out.

Find a dog to sketch today.

If you can't find one, watch "Project Runway" and sketch Swatch!

Below: Another sketch of Swatch from "Project Runway." 9 x 12 inch Fabriano Venezia Journal with Pentel Brush Pen and watercolor.

Very expressive! Wish you would watch some nature shows – your animal sketches are great and would love to see more.

Thanks sandi, I do get to the zoo to sketch animals, and the Bell right now, in their closing days, so there will be more animals up in the future. Right now I’m still unlocking the whole eyebrow issue with Dick and so many others whose eyebrows have taken over their faces! (And I have to keep up with the Marvel Universe when I do have time to watch TV.)

I hope that the new year brings more animals to sketch. And I hope you get to sketch some animals too!

    Thanks for writing.
