Seeking a Likeness: More Sketches of Richard

I have continued to sketch Dick through the fall and into the winter, usually when he is watching TV. You can see some of these if you click on the category "Richard." Others were posted before I started that category, so you'll have to poke around for them a bit using the blog's search engine.

In the meantime I've been thinking about what it means to capture a likeness and what it is to fall in love with a line and how the two can be mutually exclusive. I haven't come to a lot of conclusions yet, but will have some thoughts to share with you eventually—but not today.

Last week was hit with a creeping cold—everything from Tuesday through Friday seemed "off" but "maybe the obvious isn't happening." Saturday I was officially under the weather and Sunday I had a fever or 102 and chills and watched 2 movies and several episodes of various TV shows and couldn't tell you one thing about any of them as I was too out of it.

So let's just say my brain is a little too taxed to write about a subject I've been mulling over for a long time. But here today are two sketches I did in October that I'm glad I did because they have pushed me along the path to understanding all of Dick's angles. I'll get there, and enjoy each stop on the way, though serious study will have to wait until this cold is history.

Get well soon Roz… had also meant to add on last that I loved your drawing of the lovely Laurence Fox… 🙂

Hipe you are feeling better soon. We had some mystery bug that lasted a few weeks, pretending to go away and then coming back. Wishing you all the best in the new year too. Thanks for all your posts and inspiration.

Thanks Kristin, I’m hanging in there, but it’s getting old, eating lots of chicken soup. I hope you and your family have all recovered. Have a great 2015!
