See the full post for details on how to see Don Colley on his visit to the Twin Cities!

Don Colley is an extraordinarily talented artist who just happens to get to the Twin Cities every so often—this weekend happens to be one of those times.

If you don't know Don and his gorgeous artwork you can study his work on his website Buttnekkiddoodles. There you will find sketches he's made at life drawing sessions and candid sketches of life all around him (like the sketch of Darin).

He manages to get more depth and life out of a couple markers used monochromatically than most people get out of a whole palette of watercolors, and when he gets out the colored brush pens life has never looked so vivid.

If you want to meet the artist (he is also a wonderful and generous teacher) you have three opportunities to do so over this weekend.

Join Don Colley on Friday, May 16, 5 to 7:30 p.m. for a mini master class held at Wet Paint in St. Paul. The class costs $35. You need to register in advance. There is limited space but a few spots are left so contact Wet Paint right now.

On Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18, visit Don Colley at the Wet Paint mini-store at SpringCon at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Don will be available both days of the convention for drawing and chatting. On Saturday from 4 to 5 p.m. he has a "Big Drawing Session." There will be live costumed characters and everyone is encouraged to draw with Don during that session. In fact, if you show a sign at the ticket booth that reads, "Im here to draw with Don Colley" you'll get $1 off your admission price to the convention.

Also, on Monday, May 19 there will be a special ALL NIGHT SKETCH AT THE BELL MUSEUM. ($20.00 donation suggested.)

HOW COOL IS THAT?! (No the caps key is not stuck on my keyboard.)

Don is an amazing artist who loves to share his art, who loves to talk about sketching, and who really knows his stuff. At some point you are going to wake up and realize you missed an opportunity to see a great artist in action. Don't wait for Tuesday, May 20 for that to happen. Make a point to spend some time with Don Colley on this trip to the Twin Cities.

Hey Roz, your blog says Don’s big sketchout is Sunday but says the sketchout is Saturday. Just wanted to make sure the right info is out there…

I got the title wrong, not “big sketchout”… it’s
    “Big Drawing Session.”

LisaMarie, I got your note on facebook and made the change to the post and also posted the note of the correction on all the groups where I originally posted so I think it’s out there. I got a message from Liz but didn’t see it until 11:30, that you wanted me to call you about this. I didn’t want to call that late. If it was about fixing this that’s happened, but if it was about something else let me know via email and I’ll call you.
