Correction to a Review on Water-soluble Colored Pencils

November 28, 2013

Today while checking email I received a note from Joel commenting on my November 7, 2013 post. He asked if I meant to write Caran d'Ache Museum Aquarelle Watercolor Pencils not Cretacolor in that post.

I most certainly did. The swap of two brand names starting with "C" slipped past me. I don't regularly use either brand's colored pencils and only purchased a few loose pencils to test. There was no box screaming at me from the drawing table. I should have walked over to my life drawing bag and fished out the pencils (that's where they reside now).

I take pains to use accurate product names on my blog so that readers can find the same materials (that's the point of product reviews); this makes me feel pretty silly.

But it also makes me feel very grateful that Joel took the time to write in and correct me.

I've corrected the name references in that post and its keywords. I'm really sorry if this has caused confusion.

Just a word of warning: if you talk to me in person about this product be forwarned that my brain might swap brands while I talk. I've seen that tendency in myself before when talking about these two brand names, though I've usually caught it when I am speaking.

Again, thanks to Joel for drawing this error to my attention so I could fix it.

It's Thanksgiving today, and I have another thing to be grateful for—eagle-eyed blog readers!

Is blogging a frivolous thing or a serious attempt to connect and inform? It depends. One way to tell is by the blogger’s attention to detail and willingness to correct mistakes. And how gladly s/he does so.

Tom, it’s also a good way to judge levels of “bossy pants.” As you well know. Now get back in the kitchen! You’ve got cooking to do. Thanks.
