Left: Carl getting up to no good with his friend Ridley. Staedtler Pigment Liner on Gutenberg paper (in a 6 x 8 inch handmade journal).
I don't know that there is really much more to say about this. Ridley is not always a good influence on Carl.
But then again Carl has choices.
Lately I've been very focused on using the .1 Staedtler Pigment Liner. I have to slow down when I draw with that fine point, but I think that's probably a good thing for me in general.
Yup that old adage, you gotta pick your friends carefully applies. 🙂
Yep, and Carl has a lot of friends and let’s just say he is easy going and suggestible.
Roz, this made me blow my tea out my nose. Sooo funny!
Love the pen work. Love how you’ve done the text too.
Love, love, love everything about this!!!
Cate, While I’m gratified as to the result I do hope you weren’t injured!!! Thank you for getting the fun of this. I like the penwork too. I was just coming back to very thin pens after using only thick ones for quite some time. I’m going to take thin pens and dip pens to gesture drawing this week and see what happens (Carl will be staying at home!)
Thank you Miss T. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I started one of those “don’t use paint” phases, which of course I have to get out of quickly because next week I need to be painting for my demo! Speaking of which I found all sorts of prepped paper to use for my demo when doing the studio purge I told you about. So half my prep is not needed. It’s almost as if I planned ahead.
I love your sense of humor as well as your sketch – too funny!!
Thanks Cheryl. I’m glad you enjoy Carl! He makes life pretty interesting.
It looks like Carl is heading off to get into more trouble. I like that only his tail is showing, it’s like the story keeps going just off-scene. Beautiful line work, too. I guess you never know what those two will be up to!
I think Carl is actually going off to hide the mixing bowls. He and Ridley get into no end of trouble!
Glad you enjoyed this Paige.
