Another Spatter Dog

Above: Another in a long, long, long series of spatter dogs. Pentel Pocket Brush Pen and Schmincke and M. Graham gouache. Page spread in a 9 x 12 inch Fabriano Venezia in-studio journal.

If you can't get to the dog park to sketch at lunch you can still sketch from photos. That's what I did here. A two minute sketch with the Pentel Pocket Brush Pen while sitting back from the computer monitor (where the photos were displayed), followed by some lovely swipes of gouache with a 2-inch brush. End with a little bit of spatter and I'm all set to return to work. I've had my dose of play, along with my sandwich.

Try it.
