If you are interested in learning to make a visually interesting and sturdy structure that's great for visual journaling check out my December class—a couple spots remain. (This is my last class for 2011. I'll post my 2012 classes as details are finalized.)
You can contact MCBA to register.
Here are the details:
Supported Caterpillar Stitch Journal
Saturday and Sunday, December 10-11, 1-5pm
$120 ($110 members) + $35 supply fee.
This twist on a traditional exposed spine sewing results in a fully-supported and enclosed spine, while retaining all the decoration of this delightful stitch. The completed book (8 5/8 x 10 5/8 inches) will be filled with archival art paper perfect for visual journaling with wet and dry media. Each student will learn how to tear art paper, create unique decorative endsheets, paint book cloth, and make a customized pattern for the caterpillar stitch. These skills can be used in countless other book arts projects. We will be adding small beads to the caterpillars for decoration. There will be beads on hand for student use. Students may wish to bring their own selection of beads to further personalize the cover. Details for size of beads will be sent to registered students. For those pursuing the Core or Advanced Certificate, this class is worth 8 hours of Category D credit.
Some bookbinding experience recommended.
