Mark you calendars for the next Bell Museum Sketch Night on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
See the Bell Museum Sketch Night Page for additional details.
I understand that April's theme is going to be "Duck Stamps." I'm guessing that there will be a lot of duck study skins and taxidermy available for artists to work with. (If I hear differently about the theme I'll let you know.)
Blog reader Holly Waldrop lives too far away to join us, but she was excited about the theme. She sent me information on Ding Darling who started the Federal Duck Stamp Program. This just proves that one person's idea can make a massive change in the world.
If you want to find out more about the Federal Duck Stamp Program today please follow this link. If you are thinking of entering the 2011 Federal Duck Stamp Contest you'll find a downloadable document at that site with all the details and regulations. (Entries must be postmarked by August 15.)
Eligible species for 2011's contest are the Mallard, Wood Duck, Gadwall, Cinnamon Teal, and Blue-winged Teal. (I happen to know that the Bell has Wood Duck specimens!)
More really exciting news—2012's species list includes the Canada Goose!
