Above: Looking over the shoulder of artist Roberta Avidor as she paints a selection of shells using her Sennelier pan watercolors over a pen sketch made with a sepia Faber-Castell Pitt Artist's Pen.
At least 31 people attended the March 3 Sketch Night at the Bell Museum of Natural History. (I couldn't get a definitive count as people kept spreading out, coming and going into different areas.) The group is definitely growing in popularity. If you enjoy sketching nature subjects I urge you to come and join us in April when Jennifer Menken has selected waterfowl for the theme (in honor of Duck Stamp art competitions). (You are encouraged to sketch anything in the museum that interests you at any gathering.)
Left: Artist Marsha Micek concentrates on a series of pen and ink sketches of water insects, in keeping with the "aquatic life" theme of the evening.
Okay, trivial, but I’m intrigued by Marsha Micek’s pen case. Any chance of finding out what brand it is?
Pam, supplies trivial? Naw.
Marsha told me
“It’s a Fishpond Tool Pouch and Fishpond is a fly-fishing-supply company. I got mine in Hayward, Wis., but I’ve seen them here in town (Mpls.) maybe at REI. I’m not sure. I’m sure they’re on the internet.”
Hope that helps.
