Above: rat terrier sketch in the same journal you'll see in Monday's upcoming post. The tan paper base is Magnani Annegoni Designo; 5-3/4 x 7 inches, so the spread is 11-1/2 inches wide. Pentel Pocket Brush Pen and Schmincke and Holbein gouache, various colors.

(This post got posted out of order so you'll need to go to the MCBA Visual Journal Collective Page to read about the Portrait Party coming up—Or read my blog on Monday, January 10.)

December wasn't all about sketching people. Here's a dog sketch I did late at night because I was tired of sketching people in preparation for the Jan. 17 Portrait Party. (At the same time I realized I should be drawing more people, as you can read in my note on the page). I threw one of my photos from a dog park visit up on my large computer monitor and sat back to sketch.

Speaking of dogs, doesn't any one in the Twin Cities know where I can find a French Bulldog model!!!!!???? Desperate artist wants to know!
