Bell Museum Sketch Night

December 30, 2010

Bell Sketch Card Left: the promo card for sketch night from the Bell their in-house designer made up with some of my sketches.

UPDATE: 2013-2014 Sketch Night has begun its fourth year

Continuing the program begun in October 2010, the Bell Museum will hold Sketch Night on the FIRST Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (From September 2013 until May 2014.)

Check the Bell Museum Website for updates on topics and artists

For directions see the Bell Museum of Natural History on the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis Campus.

Sketch Night provides a social evening for the visual journal artist, accomplished illustrator, or casual sketcher to get together and sketch the Museum’s unusual and unique holdings. Each Sketch Night there will still be a set topic. In addition to the topic there will be an artist who specializes in that topic on hand to give an informal demonstration beginning at 7 p.m.

The demonstration will be optional. Continue sketching on your own or in groups, watch the demo, ask the scientists on hand questions—you can tailor your evening to suit your needs. Visitors may sketch any of the specimens in the Bell regardless of the evening’s topic. All skill levels are welcome.

If you’re a Bell member the event is free; if you aren’t a member there is a $6.00 museum admission, but the event is free. (Note: the Museum raised its admission Sept. 1, 2011 to help fund salaries for student workers.)

If you have a Minneapolis library card you can ask a librarian for free passes to the Bell!
